Making your mind up to see any kind of therapist is an important decision, and actually coming to see me is often an anxious time (at first). To help with this, I have tried to explain what happens when you first arrive at my office.

  • It is natural to be anxious - anyone would be in a such a new setting and then talking to a complete stranger. I will do my best to help you relax and feel comfortable.
  • You can tell me what is going on, what brings you to therapy.
  • I'll listen, ask questions where relevant, and try to understand what help you want from me
  • You can ask any questions you like and tell me what you feel comfortable with
  • I'll explain what I have understand to be the problem, and suggest the best course to help you deal with it
  • We have a small form to complete, with name, address, contact details and so on
  • If you are happy to continue, we can either carry on for the hour (if you booked first hour including consultation), or arrange a further appointment.
  • I'll give you a copy of my Guide to Sessions for you to read later
  • You can ask any further questions

And that's it. If you have booked the first hour including consultation, we will spend some time looking at your problems in greater detail and starting whatever therapy we have agreed on.

I hope that this helps you understand a little more about coming to see me - if you have any questions or would like to arrange an appointment, please call or email me using the details on the contact page.
